Prospect of great day at Parham

WITH just one meeting at Parham this year, visitors to the Crawley and Horsham Point to Point on Saturday will be treated to a special day's racing. This point to point has been held at Parham for more than half a century but last year the organisers took the bold step of reversing the course.

For the first time, horses ran in an anti-clockwise direction with a new paddock and tradestand area, easier access and better viewing.

The move was a huge success and will remain again this year with full approval of owners and jockeys. The course has been significantly improved, attracting an increased number of runners.

As the 2010 season gets underway there are plenty of good horses qualified with local hunts in the South East and, due to the wet weather, the meeting could see several horses from elsewhere in the country and organisers of the Parham meeting are looking forward to a high level of entries and some exciting racing.

The meeting begins at 12.15pm with Pony Racing, giving younger enthusiasts a taste of racing.

Two races, one for small ponies and one for bigger ones, will be run under strict rules, before the main racing of the day begins at 1.45pm.
