'PURPLE PATCH' FOR WILLIAM

ANGMERING Park trainer William Knight is enjoying a purple patch and is on the seven winner mark for the season, with a flurry of victories in the last couple of weeks.

Blue Mistral scored a 50-1 win at a recent Sunday meeting at Brighton, followed by Afram Blue's 9-1 victory at Lingfield shortly afterwards, The unraced Dusty Moon won at Lingfield at 16-1 and Elegant Hawk scored at Lingfield last week at 2-1.

Other victories earlier in the season have come from the classy Illustrious Blue at Goodwood, Professor Twinkle and Watchmaker.

An interesting newcomer last week was third-placed Pha Mai Blue, owned by Mr and Mrs Ian Bendelow, of Rustington, who also own Illustrious Blue. The two-year-old bay colt was bought for 37,000 guineas and is half brother to multiple winner Brief Goodbye.

The colt holds an entry for the St Leger two-year-old stakes at Doncaster in September and has the makings of an extremely good horse.
