REBELS CRASH ASH

A SECOND-HALF hat-trick in 17 minutes by Peter Brackley was just one of the highlights of this emphatic victory at Woodside Road on Saturday. But special mention must be made of an awesome display by Worthing front man Sam Francis, who played an instrumental part in every goal.

Rebels actually began quite slowly and not particularly well. They struggled to find any fluidity in their attack, despite dominating, and found the dogged Ash defence adept at getting feet and bodies in the way when it mattered.

The breakthrough came on 31 minutes when Francis eased his way into the box and cut the ball back for captain Paul Rogers to poke home from 10 yards his first goal for the club.

Buoyed by the goal and visibly more composed, Rebels added a second five minutes later. Francis gained possession 30 yards from goal, the teased and twisted past backtracking Ash defenders Stuart Woodhouse and Matthew Short before unleashing a powerful shot under stopper Jez Jukes.
