REBELS SCRAPE VICTORY

IT WAS ANOTHER below-par performance from Worthing at Woodside on Saturday but this time they managed to snatch a win from the jaws of mediocrity.

Deep into stoppage time, Sam Francis poached the goal that sealed an unconvincing performance against 10-man Egham, following Rebels' similar display against Epsom & Ewell only days earlier.

Egham were reduced when goalkeeper Dave McCartney was sent off in the 39th minute after he felled Owen Hill way outside his penalty area. Substitute goalkeeper, striker Chris Geary, pulled out a fantastic save from the resulting free kick that was taken by Graham Martin, and went on to give a performance that put the exiled McCartney to shame.
