Return of the Mac: Stringers boss reinstated after hearing hands him 56-day ban

Kenny McCreadie has been reinstated as manager of Hailsham Town Football Club after a disciplinary hearing last night gave him a 56-day ban for his part in an incident against Eastbourne United on Boxing Day.

John Purdey and Ross Scamardella were instated as joint caretaker managers of The Stringers while the club awaited the judgement of the Sussex County Football Association hearing.

An allegation was made against McCreadie by the Eastbourne club following an alleged incident that took place between the Scot and United player Matt Jones.

While evidence was being collected for the hearing, an interim ban was handed out by SCFA, meaning McCreadie was suspended from all aspects of football, including playing or taking training.

But that ban has now been lifted and McCreadie was today looking forward to running the show at the Beaconsfield again '“ although he will not be allowed in the dug-out for Saturday's game against Selsey.

SCFA chief executive Ken Benham said, "He (McCreadie) was found guilty as charged and given a suspension of 56 days from the technical area based on evidence heard at the commission."

However, because of the interim suspension, McCreadie has just 14 days of that touchline ban to serve.

A statement from the club said, "Hailsham Town FC would like to thank the Sussex County FC for the fair hearing afforded to Kenny McCreadie on Tuesday, February 12.

"Whilst being disappointed at the verdict, we are satisfied that the imposition of the 56 day touchline ban, and a fine of 50, accurately reflects the commission's view of the evidence as it was presented to them.

"Whilst still maintaining his innocence to the charge, Mr McCreadie will not appeal against the finding of guilt, or the sentence imposed upon him, as he now wishes to bring to an end this regrettable incident and concentrate once again on football matters.
