Rivals' relegation worries deepen in defeats

Selsey lost to the top team and Chichester City United went down to the bottom team as the sides' relegation battle intensified.

Chichester took the lead at Sidley, Gregory's 40th-minute goal giving them the lead at half-time.

But two goals in ten minutes midway through the second half saw them slump to their eighth loss in nine games since Christmas.

Selsey's defeat was more expected - two goals halfway through the first half accounted for their hopes as leaders Crowborough won at the High Street Ground.

The defeats leave the sides two points apart near the foot of division one, with Selsey still occupying the final relegation spot.

Ashley Hunter put Pagham into the lead at Hassocks but a goal in each half from the side sent the Lions home pointless.

In division two, Midhurst survived two fightbacks by basement side Pease Pottage to record a much-needed 3-2 win at Rotherfield. Ryan Seacombe twice put them into the lead only for Pottage to level, but Gary Norgate struck what proved to be the winner.

Sidlesham took the leaf but lost 4-2 at Seaford.
