Roberts rallies his players

BEXHILL skipper Sam Roberts has called on his team to stop relying on the club's top players after an abysmal performance against Roffey last week.

The Australian all-rounder was unable to produce one of his trademark big scores when he was caught for just six runs.

Bexhill went on to be dismissed for a pitiful 98, a target Roffey surpassed for the loss of one wicket.

"It was like watching a nightmare as batsman after batsman gave their wicket away," he said.

"I think perhaps the team is relying on one or two players too much and a few bad habits have crept in over the last couple of seasons which are things I'm looking to change.

"It's a good job we have a relatively large squad as some of the players look like they need a good shake up."

Bexhill will be looking to put things right when they travel to Stirlands on Saturday May 18, and could change the side around with Rakesh Patel likely to start and Ben Ridgeway, Alan Cowley, Jeremy Wassell, Steve Jenner and Jeff Topp are all in contention for a call-up.
