In the first of a festive 'two-parter' between the sides, Bognor made one change to the side that had won their previous match, with recent loan signing Grant Hall, coming in for the injured Tim Bond.

There were a couple of familiar faces in the Horsham line-up, with former Rocks Steve Sargent and Mark Knee making appearances.

The first chance fell to the Rocks early on, when a defence-splitting pass from Jason Prior, set up Gary Norgate, who was clean through on goal, only to be denied by Craig Bradshaw in the visitors' goal.

The Rocks went close again when, from a corner, Dan Beck's snapshot was blocked on the line.

The visitors looked dangerous going forward and took the lead on 19 minutes.

After Andrej Pernecky had parried Knee's low effort, hesitant defending saw a needless corner conceded and from Lee Carney's resultant kick, the ball fell nicely for Pat Harding, who took one touch before firing into the roof of the net.

But Horsham's joy was shortlived as less than two minutes later, Bognor were level.

After a deep cross was headed back across goal, an attempted clearance rebounded kindly for Norgate, who was on hand to poke home the leveller from close range.

Harding then missed a great chance to put Horsham back in front, when after some neat flowing football on the right, Jack Page's low cross was met by Harding at the far post, but from just six yards out, somehow missed the target by firing over.

Richard Hudson - making his first Nyewood Lane appearance since his recent return - then showed the home crowd a taste of what they had been missing when he rolled back the years, by cutting inside and beating three players, before unleashing a drive that was well cut out by Bradshaw.

Back came the visitors and some more impressive approach work, saw Horsham force another corner, which eventually saw Harding's effort blocked.

The second period was evenly contested, but bore little resemblence to the first half, with fewer chances at either end.

Andrej Pernecky was on hand to give a competent display, confidently cutting out efforts from Harding and Page and at the other end, Norgate had a chance to double his and Bognor's tally but could not connect fully with his effort, when sent through on the right.

The best chance of the second half came on 68 minutes, when Prior was clean through on goal but with just Bradshaw to beat, Bognor's leading scorer could not compose himself and frustratingly screwed his effort high and wide of the target.

Bognor: Pernecky, Crane, Clark, Wood, Hall, Demetriou, Hudson, Birmingham, Prior, Norgate, Beck. Subs: Ide, Oatway, Greenfield, Bogard (for Norgate), Bowles.
