Rooks' bad holiday weekend

Lewes Football Club's playoffs hopes took a beating when they crashed 5-1 at Fisher Athletic on Saturday and were held 1-1 at home by Eastbourne Borough in the local derby on new Year's Day.

Teenager Ryan Hall, on loan from Crystal Palace, equalised for the Rooks in the 38th minute at Fisher but four goals in 17 minutes saw Steve King's team well beaten.

In a bad-tempered game at the Dripping Pan Simon Wormull gave Lewes a 20th minute lead against Borough, but Matt Crabb equalised with seven minutes remaining.

Anthony Storey, who played for Borough last season, was sent off for two yellow cards in the closing stages.
