“Last year, we had more than 500 runners compete and this time around we are hoping to have in excess of 600 take part.

“This year we will also have a prize for the first, second and third-placed male and female competitors.

“I’m really looking forward to the race getting underway now.”

The route begins at the Clock Tower in Steyning High Street and heads west through the grounds of Wiston House.

After a challenging climb up to the South Downs Way through Chalkpit Wood, competitors run along Round Hill and come back down via the Upper Horseshoe to finish on the Memorial Field.

As well as the adult event, a junior race will also be run, with the race open to anyone aged between seven and 15.

A barbecue will take place on the Memorial Field after the run.

The race gets underway at 7.30pm. For more information, visit www.steyningac.co.uk/roundhill-romp.
