Rugby club targets top three

Hastings & Bexhill are preparing for a make-or-break game in their quest for a top three finish.

The rugby club will entertain Dartfordians tomorrow (Saturday) in a fourth versus third Kent One clash at William Parker Sports College. Kick-off is 3pm.

Head coach Kevin Smith said: “I would like to come third. They’re a very good squad Dartfordians, but I feel quite confident we can beat them.”

H&B have won 11 of their last 13 matches in all competitions, including nine of their last 11 in the league, to close within a point of Dartfordians having played an extra game. They also won December’s reverse fixture 13-5.

Mark Piotrowski should return after missing last weekend’s 29-8 win over bottom club New Ash Green in H&B’s final

away game of the season through work, but Joe Umpleby is likely to remain sidelined with a badly sprained arm.

Elsewhere, Rye RFC will entertain second-placed East Grinstead II in the final home fixture of their Sussex One campaign. Rye ran out 13-12 winners in the reverse fixture before Christmas thanks to a try with the final play.
