Kuno Genoni, a founder of the team, the first Chichester College rugby secretary from 1965 to 1966 and second-row forward, has been in touch with the college to see if an event would be viable.

He said: “It is excellent to hear the rugby club is still going strong since it was founded 50 years ago.

“It certainly would be great to organise a reunion of some kind – maybe at the college.

“The only player I have remained in contact with is our excellent scrum-half Richard Bennett.

“I hope other players can be found through the Chichester Observer.

“The names of the team of 1965-66 are rather remote in my memory. The principal in my time was Mr Hughes.”
