It is a joint initiative between Chichester Rugby Club, Chichester College and Chichester High School.

The event comprises a weekend of rugby starting on Friday, June 10, with a primary school competition being held at Chichester High School, with a college beach rugby event the same day at West Wittering.

On Saturday 11, Chichester RFC host a fancy-dress tag competition at West Wittering – the theme for this year is When in Rio. On Sunday 12 at the high school there is the final competition of the weekend in aid of the Ian Thorn foundation, in memory of a much-loved teacher and rugby coach who died.

CRFC’s Ben Bulpett said: “The idea behind the event is to bring rugby to a wider audience and show that it is a game for all seasons.

“The organising committee want to get as many new people playing touch rugby or coming along to support the teams.

“With England winning the Six Nations there is a strong push to get more people participating in the game, whether as a player, coach, referee or just helping out at a local club or college.
