Today’s (Wednesday’s) draw for the London & SE Junior Vase quarter-finals handed H&B a trip to Surrey One leaders Old Cranleighans on Saturday February 27.

Cranleighans have beaten H&B’s Kent One rivals Lordswood, Beccehamian and Southwark Lancers in the previous three rounds.

H&B head coach Chris Brooks was well pleased with the way his team came back from 13-0 down to win 20-13 at Kingston on Saturday.

He said: “It was a very good all-round performance. It went from a comedy of errors to very open almost exhibition rugby and pretty much all the second half was played in their half. I’m extremely pleased to get to the last eight of this competition.”

H&B will be without several key players, meanwhile, for an important league game away to Beccehamian this coming Saturday.

Jimmy Adams, John Hanagarth, Anthony Roche and Elliot Parry are all unavailable for the third versus fourth clash.

“We’re going to have to bring up a few second team players, which shouldn’t be too much of an issue because the seconds are going really well, but it will be a test of how good our strength in depth is,” added Brooks.
