It's 359-0 for Chichester's history-making rugby youngsters

CHICHESTER under-14s wrote their way into the club's history books as they completed their B league season with a 24-0 win over Pulborough.

The team have now played all of their league matches and have not conceded a single point all season to claim the under-14 B champions. Their record-breaking record of played seven, won seven, scoring 359 conceding zero points, sealed promotion to the Sussex A league.

The match against Pulborough was a tense affair and a number of nervous errors put Chichester on the back foot.

Pulborough won a line-out 10 yards from the Chichester line but a clean catch from Alex Taylor allowed Sam Hudson to kick to clear the Chichester line.

Once back in the Pulborough half Robin Aldridge put his head down and was finally bundled into touch five meters from the Pulborough line.

Chris Brooke-Jones caught the line out, charged forward and off loaded the ball to Aldridge to score the first try.

Pulborough then hit back but Chichester their nerve and a determined run from Jack Gibbons put the play back in the Pulborough half. Pulborough pounced on a loose ball and broke through the Chichester defence, but a superb try-saving tackle from Matt Langmead ended the first half.

Chichester started the second half with more confidence and Langmead and then Taylor worked the ball free to give Aldridge space and from 10 yards out he was unstoppable.

Rory Sellwood caught the ball at speed, side stepped his defender and scored the third try. As Chichester pushed forward and moved the ball down the line Pulborough intercepted the ball and had a run to the line. A flying high-speed tackle from Langmead stopped the score.

Chichester then turned over a scrum and with training ground precision moved the ball across the pitch to winger Ross Legg who outpaced the Pulborough defence to ground the ball with a swallow dive under the posts.

Hudson converted two out of four tries with his attempts.
