Mighty Pulborough RFC win Sussex Shield to complete a fantastic double

Pulborough won a tight Sussex Shield final against Bexhill Hastings & Bexhill on Saturday to bookend their quite remarkable season by completing the league and cup double.

Sussex 1 champions Pulborough edged out the Kent 1 runners-up 8-7 in the final at a windswept Heathfield & Waldren RFC to lift the trophy.

And on a special day for the club, the Pulborough Pirates also beat Burgess Hill II 47-10 to win the Sussex Vase at the same venue.

It caps a quite brilliant season at the club, which saw the first team win every one of their 22 league games to seal promotion back to London SE 3 next season.
