More International Success for James Chisholm

Following caps at age group level and a Junior World Cup medal with England Under 20s, James - a Harlequins player - who is still just 20 years old although weighs in at 1.91m (6’3”) and 105kg (16st 7lbs) - has been selected for the England Saxons tour to South Africa.

As the youngest player in a squad containing a number of experienced internationals, including the mercurial Danny Cipriani, James will be following in the sizeable footsteps of his former Under 20s team mate and captain, European Player of the Year, Maro Itoje. Looking to force his way into the Saxons’ starting line up against the Springbok A team on 10th and 17th June, James’s selection comes after a tough injury-hit year, though culminating in a series of barn-storming appearances on loan to London Scottish (playing alongside former Heath Colt, prop Max Maidment) when not required to understudy Quins’ Nick Easter or Jack Clifford. Keep an eye on James, whose ball skills, physique, leadership qualities and growing experience at the highest level of the professional game, make him a real prospect for the future. The England Saxons matches against South Africa are being televised live on Sky.

The two other talented Chisholm boys - both ex Heath mini and juniors - also continue to shine. Older brother Ross received high praise for his Quins appearances this season, initially covering for international absentees and remaining very much in the frame since.

Younger brother Ali has been making all the difference kicking key goals for National 1 side Esher.

Meanwhile, there’s news of other former Heath juniors now in the professional game. Ben Broster - whose Wales shirt also hangs on Heath’s clubhouse wall - moves from Biarritz to local rivals Bayonne, where he’ll assume the captaincy. And with the Scotland U19 shirt of Jamie Ure having recently been added to the Club’s collection, Heath can be credited with nurturing the junior careers of players who have represented England, Wales and Scotland.

Heath is proud of the place these and other young players are taking in the professional game as the Club builds on its continuing progress and focuses on bringing talent through the age groups to participate in the senior game at all levels. With promotion secured for next season - for the 1st XV to London & South East 3 and for the 2nd XV to Sussex 2, players are maintaining their fitness participating in touch rugby sessions at Whitemans Green on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the summer months.

Full training for the new season starts on Tuesday 12th July at 7pm continuing each Tuesday and Thursday evening from then onwards - all senior players, old and new, are welcome.
