New head of rugby named at Eastbourne

Eastbourne Rugby Club have named Nick Chambers as their new head of rugby.

He steps up after a long spell as chairman of the club’s mini s’section.

A statement on the club website said: “It is with great please that we can announce and welcome Nick as our new head of rugby starting with immediate effect.

“Although we remain in this uncertain time Nick will be instrumental in preparing for when we can safely start our season and prepare to make it as smooth as possible.

“Nick has for many years been our club’s minis chair ensuing the our mini section has continued to go from strength to strength... a fantastic supporter of the club who is known throughout the different sections and has continued to advise and assist the club with areas in which to focus, engage and address.

“Nick will report directly to Steve Snell, continue as a committee member and have direct access to our appointed directors of the club.

Chambers will work in conjunction with and be responsible for all main sections of the club, liaising with the rugby management and governance head, website administration, RFU country/Sussex rugby, minis section, media and communications, data officer, club volunteer officer and rugby recruitment team ensuring the club operates within the boundaries of RFU and club guidelines.

His aim will be to improve the overall quality of the rugby being played at the club by all age groups as well as performing all administration associated with running a large playing section, from data updating through to promoting news items and providing platforms to expose Eastbourne Rugby Club in the wider community.

He will attend county RFU meetings on a monthly basis to provide updates, representing the club and be responsible in obtaining and maintaining club accreditation devising associated plans to keep initiatives on track and delivered.

The club added: “We wish Nick well on his appointment and look forward to work with Nick.”
