Nifty 50 for H&B

Hastings & Bexhill picked up where they left off the previous weekend with another big victory on Saturday.

The rugby club won 51-0 at home to Seaford to move up to second in Sussex One after Holbrook suffered a heavy defeat away to Worthing III.

H&B made a lively start and opened the scoring through a Rod Luff try after five minutes and Ben Davies powered over to give the hosts a 10-0 half time lead.

Ben Campbell scored his eighth try in three games at the start of the second half before a powerful pushover try touched down by captain Roger Roberts gave H&B a 20-0 lead, and the four-try bonus point.

Paul Sandeman went on to claim a hat-trick of tries, while Ben Arnold and Mark Piotrowski also touched down. Ali Coombe kicked three conversions to bring up the half-century.

Elsewhere in the same division, Rye’s run of back-to-back victories came to an end with a 48-12 loss at home to unbeaten leaders Uckfield.

Full reports on both games will appear in Friday’s Observers.
