Raiders’ two-game winning run in National 1 was ended on Saturday with a poor display against Henley Hawks.

The home side did, however, hit back from 32-8 down with 14 minutes left to lose 32-27 and secure two late bonus points.

Dawson is opting to take the positives from their late rally into this weekend, but is expecting another tough away clash.

Raiders may also take the opportunity this weekend to rest some of their tired personnel, ahead of some crucial games in the coming weeks.

Dawson said: “We have to be positive after what was a pretty abject performance for 70 minutes. We need to take that late tempo and take it into our next game.

“The great thing about that last ten minutes was we stole two points. That’s a massive positive and the players will take that away.

“It pushes them (Henley) four points ahead of us now but at least we got something from the game.

“This week is going to be a tough one. We might use it as an opportunity to give some guys, who are pretty weary, some time off and try to go up there and steal something with a smash and grab raid.

“We have got bigger games to come in the next few weeks with Old Albanian coming to us and others, so we’ll concentrate on those ones.”
