Raiders dropped to fourth from bottom in National 1 with the 31-20 loss at Hull, who won for the first time this season, and host fifth-from-bottom Cinderford on Saturday (2pm) as they look to make it back-to-back home wins.

The teams are level on 17 points after ten league games and Miles knows the importance of bouncing back after the disappointment of the defeat at Hull.

Miles said: “Cinderford are a place above us in the league and we know it’s going to be a hard game.

“I’d like to think that, after we beat Coventry, teams were thinking ‘Worthing must be quite good’. But then we go and lose to Hull and we give any team we play hope that they can beat us.

“Every team will now think they have a chance against us, which makes every week harder and harder.

“We just have to forget what happened at Hull and put it down to a blip.

“Every game is going to be tough in this league, especially up front. We’ve struggled in the scrums for the last four, five, six weeks and Saturday will be another tough game, as every one is.

“We have to go into it with confidence, though, and play on what we did well at Hull and what we did well at home to Coventry in our last home game.”

n Raiders’ Charlie McGowan was in the Barbarians team, who took on the Combined Services at Plymouth in a Remembrance Match on Tuesday evening.

Barbarians, who were coached by former Raiders coach Ian Davies, lost 34-28 and McGowan played 55 minutes.
