Dudley touched down Raiders’ third try and said after the game: “I think I’ve been coming here for ten years now playing and it’s always close.

“I think we had a couple at the very beginning which we were on the right side of and then generally we’ve lost the close games since, but today we were the better team and it’s pleasing that we did ourselves justice and put in enough of a performance to grab that victory.

“The try when we went in front at the end, that shout of “Worthing, Worthing”, it was just an appreciation of how many people had made the trip and how much it means to people, so it’s a really special victory.

“I think a big part of the battle with us is staying calm and just executing what we know we’re capable of. Sometimes a little bit of in-discipline creeps into our game and we keep teams in it. Richmond weren’t as good as us today but we kept them in it through our own indiscipline, so it’s really nice when things come off and we keep the ball and we play like we know we’re capable.

“The thing that we’ve already found with this league is there is just no easy game. It’s fairly incessant and there’s no easy game. We beat Coventry, who are fourth and then we go to Hull, who have not won anything, and we fairly comprehensively got beaten at their place, so there’s no easy games and we won’t take anything for granted.

“It’s another big game against Henley on Saturday now. It’s become a bit of a derby game against them over the years, we’ve been playing in the same league for a while and it’s always nip and tuck.

“Hopefully, we can continue with our good work and get another win at home and it would be nice to start making the place a fortress.”
