Rocks Review: Folkestone Invicta 2 Rocks 2

Two goals from Jason Prior earned Bognor a share of the points at Folkestone.

Bognor played the more impressive football from the beginning of the game and were immediately rewarded when top-scorer Prior tapped into the net from Ben Johnson’s cross for his 16th strike of the season.

Folkestone came back into the game and a shot from Michael Everitt in the seventh minute went just wide.

Midway through the half, the hosts’ Brian Moreby had a good chance to equalise but shot just wide of the left post.

In the 29th minute, keeper Craig Stoner kept the visitors ahead with a great save from an Austin shot following a defensive error.

The game then began to get very niggly and Rocks pair Dan Beck and Terry Dodd were booked.

The home team very nearly snatched an equaliser from a free-kick, but Stoner managed to scoop the ball clear.

In the 43rd minute, Bognor could have made it 2-0 following a good move but the final shot from Beck was well saved by Jack Delo in the home goal.

The half ended with more Folkestone pressure when Stoner had to punch the ball clear following a corner.

In the second half, Folkestone drew level through Simon AUSTIN following his delicate header from a corner on 63 minutes.

AUSTIN put Folkestone ahead in the 78th minute following a great run and shot that went into the top corner of the net.

The Rocks immediately retaliated with a great shot from Lewis Ide in the 80th minute and then PRIOR equalised in the 82nd minute with a fine header from a corner by sub Steve Harper.

Stoner saved a point for Bognor deep into time added on, tipping over a powerful shot from Austin.

The Rocks remain third in the league - a point behind second-placed Dulwich Hamlet - and are next in action in the league cup on Tuesday at Leatherhead.

ROCKS: Stoner, Crane, Wollers (Harper), Breach, Sheriff, Ide, Wills, Johnson, Beck, Prior, Dodd. Subs: Harper, Blatchford, Cody, Killpartrick.
