ROCKS REVIEW: There's no rest for promotion-hunting Rocks

THERE'S no rest ahead for the Rocks as they try to keep among the leading pack in the Ryman one south promotion race.

Tuesday sees the start of a spell of six league games in 22 days – a period which also includes a county cup game.

And judging by the way the division’s top teams are continuing to pick up points, it’s a run of games in which the Rocks will need to pick up plenty of points if they’re to keep up the hunt.

Last Saturday’s last-gasp
2-1 victory at Dulwich Hamlet merely kept them in fourth place. Even a draw would have seen them slip to sixth place.

Leatherhead, Whitehawk, Met Police, Burgess Hill and Sittingbourne are all reflecting the Rocks’ form by picking up more points than they are dropping.

Joint boss Darin Killpartrick said: “We were elated to win at Dulwich Hamlet. We didn’t see it coming. At 1-1 we were happy with a point and in fact we were set up to get a point. But we always feel we have a goal in us and it was a lovely strike from Ben Johnson to win it for us.

“It’s a tough league and we need to keep winning.”

Merstham are next up in the league. The Rocks will visit them on Tuesday provided they are not off to Hampton for a Trophy replay.

Merstham drew 3-3 in a Nyewood Lane thriller in September thanks to an injury-time equaliser.
