The Green and Whites’ match at their rivals was the only game in the whole of the London League to fall foul of the weather.

Stocker said the team were left extremely disappointed the match was called off at just after 10am and the first they heard of it was on Twitter, not through proper communications between the two clubs.

Until then they had been given no suggestion the game was in doubt, Stocker said: “We are disappointed as a club as we were up for the game against our local rivals.

“It’s all a bit up in the air at the moment as the club finalises its response to Crowborough and the league, but suffice to say we were very disappointed it was called off. We were the only match in all of the London Leagues - that’s ten different leagues and 110 teams from 55 matches, to be called off which is ridiculous.

“The guys were very disappointed, that said we got to have a good training session. We had a good hour doing team plays, which shows the hunger the guys have got to retain their place. You have to look at the positives and dare I say we have a couple of minor injuries so it gave us an extra week.”

Horsham host Andover in the Sussex Intermediate Cup on Saturday. Kick-off is 2pm.
