Twickenham treat for rugby youngsters

CHICHETER RFC's under-12s returned to Twickenham Stoop to take part in the Etihad Airways Curtain Raiser Cup finals.

Playing on the hallowed turf, Chi opened proceedings with a game against Haslemere RFC which they won by one try to nil. The second game quickly followed, this time Chichester scored three to beat Petersfield.

The final game of the pool was against Sutton & Epsom. A tough game ensued with Chi very much on the defense against a strong side. There were excellent last-minute tackles from the whole Chi team ensuring a 0-0 draw.

The draw was enough to take Chi into the semi-final against Teddington. A lapse in concentration led to Chi conceding their first try of the day which unfortunately they were not able to recover from and so bowed out of the competition.

To finish a near perfect day the parents and squad stayed on to watch Harlequins beat Bath in the Heineken Cup.

Teams from Midhurst and Chichester’s minis section travelled to Bognor Rugby Club on Sunday to play in the annual festival for the Midhurst Cup.

Teams in the age groups from under-seven to under-12 played against each other and they all put on a fantastic display.
