We need to get momentum back – Buoy

Raiders suffered a third successive defeat without picking up a point on Saturday, when they lost 25-11 at Bury St Edmunds, which left them 11th in National 2 South – 16 points off the promotion places.

Second-placed Cambridge are the visitors to Roundstone Lane on Saturday and Buoy said: “We’re not out of it yet and spirits are still high as we’ve got a good squad.

“It’s not quite the stage of knock-out rugby for us but we’ve got to get four or five more wins before Christmas. Saturday is a huge game and we’ve got to get momentum back on our side and a win on Saturday could do that. Cambridge are in good form but we’ve got to speed up what we do and get back to scoring lots of tries like we used to.”

On Saturday’s defeat, Buoy said: “We just couldn’t get going. We only won about 50 to 55 per cent of out line-outs and, although, we dominated the scrummage, we couldn’t take advantage.

“We should have sped the game up more as slowing it down suited them.”

Alex Nielsen is set to be back for Worthing on Saturday, while Finlay Coxon-Smith and Rob Smith are also closing in on returns. On-loan Harlequins duo Archie White and Sam Aspland-Robinson have been named in the England under-20 squad but both are available on Saturday.
