This year marks 66 years of rugby at Oaklands Park, one of the most picturesque locations for the sport in the south east.

Sunday’s event is called ‘Done by Two’ and is an extravaganza of rugby for the under-seven to under-12 age groups.

Organisers expect more than 800 children and 1,000-plus to visit from across Hampshire and West Sussex for a full day’s play.

Teams from Haywards Heath, Bognor, Pulborough, Worthing, Portsmouth, Fareham, Horsham and Havant are due to take part.

Chichester RFC are run totally by volunteers and now have the largest mini and junior section in the south, with more than 450 six to 17-year-olds playing rugby every Sunday.

They were one of the first clubs to receive the RFU seal of approval and have recently been awarded ‘year three’ status indicating continual improvement and development. The club have produced numerous county players and a number of internationals.

The action starts at 10am, with prizegiving timed for 2pm.
