RUGBY: Worthing get important win at Henley

WORTHING RAIDERS Rugby Club recorded an impressive 17-3 victory at high-flying Henley on Saturday (January 24) in National 3 South.

Raiders led 7-3 at half-time after Jamie Redmayne's try was converted by new-signing Matt McLean, who has joined from Cross Keys in Wales.

After the break, Joe Govett ran half the length of the pitch to touch down under the posts and McLean again converted.

McLean then also added a penalty to make it 17-3.

Worthing team manager David Hinchcliffe said: "We were extremely elated after the final whislte but that was dampened a little bit when we found out Chinnor and Havant both also won.

"But, if we hadn't won, we'd be in big trouble.

"The Chinnor game next week is now very important. We played well last week, and played well again this week, and it's now a massive game next week."
