RUSTY MADE TO ROLL UP THEIR SLEEVES

UPPER BEEDING made County League third division title rivals and former winners Rustington work hard for their 2-0 passage in the Sussex Intermediate Cup. They eventually got past oposition until this season with them in Division 3 before relegation in the summer to the West Sussex League.

Rustington quartet Russ Tomlinson, Sean Duffy, Ryan Morten and goalkeeper Andy McCarthy are in the Sussex team to face Kent in the Stabler Trophy at Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday.

Lancing United of the West Sussex League could manage only a consolation goal in their 2-1 defeat at East Preston Reserves, who now go to Little Common Albion in the next round.

Angmering's debut in the competition took them across Sussex to Crowborough Reserves from the County League and they lost 4-2.

Worthing Football League champions Worthing Wanderers sent lowly County league side Bexhill United packing in the with a 3-0 win. And fellow Worthing leaguers, Tabernacle pulled off a 2-1 win in extra-time away to Midhurst Reserves who have won this Cup more times than anyone, on five occasions.
