Rye make it four on the bounce

Rye United consolidated second place with a 2-0 win away to Eastbourne United AFC on Tuesday night.

It was Rye's fourth Sussex County Football League Division One victory in the space of 11 days '“ all have been away from home and all have come with clean sheets.

Rye had to while to make the breakthrough, but they got there in the end thanks to the second goals of the season for Scott Ramsay and Danny Leach.

Elsewhere, Sidley United lost 1-0 away to a fourth-placed Crowborough Athletic side which is the only team to beat or indeed score against Rye this season.

Sam Carrington scored the only goal of a tight game containing few chances with a great strike from outside the area midway through the second half.
