Rye up to fourth with Ringmer win

Rye United made it back-to-back wins in Division One of the Sussex County Football League on Tuesday night.

The Quarterboys moved up to fourth place on the back of a 1-0 victory at Ringmer which gives them 10 points from a possible 15.

Rye dominated the game and created a host of chances, but had to wait until 10 minutes into the second half to make their superiority count through a twice-taken penalty by Duncan McArthur.

Sidley United picked up their second victory of the Division One campaign via a 2-0 success in a scrappy game away to bottom-of-the-table Eastbourne United AFC.

Danny Spice headed Sidley in front after 15 minutes at a windswept Oval and Allan McMinigal made sure of the points with a stoppage time second.

Westfield made it back-to-back wins in Division Two courtesy of a come-from-behind 2-1 success at AFC Uckfield. David Pugh scored both the goals, including a 25-yard free kick with 10 minutes remaining.

In the same division, Bexhill United achieved a very creditable 1-1 draw away to Seaford Town.
