Competitors, from each district in Sussex, will have already qualified from local area finals held throughout the year. The Sainsbury’s School Games is backed by National Lottery funding from Sport England and headline sponsor Sainsbury’s, and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust.

Tara Hicks, Head of Sponsorship at Sainsbury’s said: ‘We are thrilled to be supporting our next generation of athletes at this year’s summer festivals. The festivals provide a fantastic opportunity to encourage even more young people to enjoy the benefits and challenges of competitive sport’.

The Sussex Games are delivered by a Local Organising Committee, consisting of Active Sussex, the Sussex School PE & Sport Network, National Governing Bodies, local authorities, leisure providers and headteachers. Active Sussex Gold Tier partners, Freedom Leisure and University of Chichester also support the event.

The Sussex event is one of more than 60 regional Sainsbury’s School Games festivals that are taking place across the country this summer, encouraging more young people to participate in competitive school sport.
