Saints hit form on their travels

ST LEONARDS turned in their best performance of the season as they romped to a 4-0 win away to East Grinstead Town on Tuesday night.

Gavin Ramsden, Jimmy Elford, Dave Flemming and Keith Miles all got on the scoresheet to lift Saints up to second in Sussex Division One.

"It was the best performance of the season by a mile," said player-manager Bowyer who felt playing away from The Firs helped his team. "After playing all those games at home we just relaxed because the level of expectation wasn't so high. It could have been eight or nine - their keeper had a great evening."

The manner of victory was a far cry from many of Saints' performances at home where they have won just two out of six matches, dropping nine points in the process.

Saints opened the scoring on 24 minutes when good work by Flemming set up Ramsden whose shot from 20 yards sped into the Town net. A couple of minutes later Jimmy Elford started and finished a flowing move.

Ramsden went close to claiming his second on the night before Andy Cyrus crossed from the left wing for Flemming to convert from close range.

Miles completed the scoring in the closing stages with a crisp shot from just outside the box.

The previous Saturday Saints were held to a 1-1 draw at home to East Preston.
