Saxons beaten by golden goal

South Saxons’ hopes of Sussex Plate glory were ended by a golden goal.

The Hastings hockey club lost 2-1 to Penguin in the final at Lewes HC on Sunday after conceding five minutes into a sudden death period of extra-time.

The first half on a pitch made wet by heavy pre-match rain ended goalless before Penguin, who finished third in South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One, took the lead 15 minutes from time.
