Saxons targeting more of the same

South Saxons are eager to build on a flying start to their league campaign.

Saxons will travel to Brighton III tomorrow (Saturday) fresh off their 10-4 thrashing of Penguin in their South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One opener last weekend.

But captain Paddy Cornish is demanding a quicker start than last weekend when Saxons fell two goals behind and had a player sin-binned before turning the match around.

He said: “We need to make a much quicker start. We can’t afford to keep starting slowly because against the better teams, we will get punished.”

Pete Watters is still unavailable, but Sam Bunday should return. Saxons gave a league debut last weekend to Jim Towers, who has recently moved to the area from south Wales and impressed in a friendly a fortnight ago.
