Saxons top after beating rivals

South Saxons have hit the front after winning a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

Saxons won 1-0 at home to previous leaders Horsham II to move two points clear at the top of South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One.

Their captain Paddy Cornish said: “It was probably our best performance in about five or six years and to be fair it could’ve been two or three-nil.”

The all-important goal came around 20 minutes from time courtesy of a good finish from Alex Coombs after a bit of a scramble in the area. Man of the match was Dan Burnett.
