Seagulls snap up trophies

FOUR swimmers from Hastings Seagull Swimming Club travelled to Brighton with head coach Richard Grundy and came home with six trophies from the Ken Deeley 50m sprints on Saturday.

In the girls' 11 year age group Lucy Barrie took sixth place in the breaststroke, backstroke and individual medley. She also achieved new personal bests in these three races but narrowly missed out on new times in the freestyle and butterfly.

Sophie Eldridge eclipsed her previous freestyle PB by just under six seconds in her first ever outdoor meeting.

Nathan Thomas was another to go quicker than he had done in the past, setting PBs in the breaststroke, backstroke (where an unfortunate disqualification for moving on the starting block denied him secons place), freestyle, 'fly and IM where he took a brilliant third place.

Michaela Durrant recorded PBs in the freestyle (7th), 'fly (an improvement of more than three seconds), breaststroke (4th), IM (6th) and backstroke (11th).
