First off was the 14 mile time trial starting in Faygate, heading out to Newdigate before a long drag up Partridge Lane and back to the finishing line in Faygate.

Sixteen club members took on the hilly challenge with many recording season best times as the summer weather finally arrived.

Half the field managed to finish in times under the 40 minute mark but coming out on top on his favourite course was Keith Carter in a time of 35 minutes 52, beating Stephen Copeland into second by 42 seconds.

Rounding off the podium was Keith Shuttlewood who has returned to form after early season back problems kept him off the bike for a month or two.

In the ladies competition Coralie Clark’s time of 41:29 took nearly 3 minutes off her previous time for this course to take the honours.

The following Tuesday night took the club riders onto the faster 10 mile course on the A24.

Here Stephen took revenge on Keith to romp home in a super fast time of 22:43 to take first place, narrowly beating Jon Fry into second by a mere 1 second with Keith Carter dropping to third.

Rob Evans showed further improvement to record sixth place in 24:12, he should soon be coming under the 25 mph mark of 24 minutes before the season is out. Only seven club events remain in the Horsham Cycling calendar this season.

On a very windy Sunday morning on June 23, Horsham Cycling club member Jon Fry rode the Southern Counties Cycling Union 50 mile Open time trial and recorded a time of 2 hrs 8 minutes and 22 seconds to place 20 out of 47.

Riding his longest event for this season, he was a few minutes below his personal best but coped well with the harsh wind conditions to finish strongly.
