Seconds' struggles continue on the squash court

Bognor's second team resumed their programme after recent cancelled games but came unstuck when they entertained a strong Crawley team, clawing just a single point to extend a dismal run of defeats.

This minor success was when No2 string Dave Meagher took the first game playing Neil Hide but could not keep pace with his opponent who ran out a 3-1 winner.

Bognor No5 Steve Kus hardly had a look-in against Len Ahearne who had an easy 3-0 win.

Alex Burrows put up more resistance at No4 for Bognor playing Scott Williams but was unfortunate not to get at least a point, pushing the Crawley man close in every game - score 9-7, 9-7, 10-8.

Bognor third string Jon Burley also went down in three games as opponent Chris Sexton had a relatively comfortable win.

The clash of the No1 strings was no better as Paul Butcher lost in straight games to give Crawley a 5-0 margin and 20 points to Bognor’s one.

Bognor’s juniors fared little better in their league match with Copthorne, losing 3-0, and were beaten by the same score in a friendly with Littlehampton.
