See Chelsea stars from the past

THE first 1066 Sporting Club Soccer Challenge will take place at Rye & Iden United's Salts ground on Sunday September 14 when Chelsea Old Boys tackle the 1066 Veterans.

Chelsea are sending down a strong team including the likes of Gary Chivers, Gary Stanley, Clive Walker, Graham Wilkins, Jason Cundy, Tommy Langley, David Stride, Peter Rhodes-Brown, Trevor Aylott, John Bumstead, Colin Pates, Steve Kimber, Steve Clarke and Steve Finnieston.

The 1066 Veterans will be managed by former Rye United manager Brian Collins and feature ex-professionals such as Dean White, now reserve team manager at Brighton & Hove Albion, and Peter Heritage, joint manager at Sidley United. The squad also includes representatives of 1066 Sporting Club, Ashdown Hurrey, Observer Sport, Delboys Wholesale, Serco, Superstitch 86 and former players of Rye & Iden United. Kick-off is 2pm.

Admission to the match is 3 with under-16s free of charge.
