Shelley sinks Golds

He went from hero to villain, though, as along with Golds' keeper Wes Hallett, he was sent off.

The visitors, with five changes from Easter Monday's starting line-up against Arundel, edged the early exchanges, but on 11 minutes the Mavericks attacked down the left and a long cross to the far post was neatly headed home by Joe Shelley.

On the half-hour, Shelley nearly increased the lead. Steve Pickles, the well-organised home captain, threaded a long ball down the middle, where the nimble Shelley rounded Hallett, but was able only to hit the side netting from an acute angle.
