Sidley aim to kick-start season

SIDLEY are hoping to breathe some life into their slow start to the Sussex Cricket League season when they visit Preston Nomads on Saturday May 18.

A derby defeat against neighbours Bexhill and no fixture last weekend has made for a frustrating fortnight for the club.

Captain Pete King remains positive, however, and said: "I don't think there's any outstanding teams in the league so as long as we play positively and believe in our own abilities there's no reason why we can't finish as high as last season.

"Results kind of went our way last week as most of the teams had draws.

"Preston are normally a good side but although their ground is quite pretty it's not exactly the prettiest pitch to play on."

Preston have also played just one game this term - a frustrating draw against last season's whipping boys Cuckfield.

Sidley 2nd XI have been deducted eight points for failing to show up for their first game of the season against Haywards Heath on May 4. They take on Preston II at Gullivers, 1.15pm.
