Sidley hopeful of keeping Javed

SIDLEY Cricket Club has been given a major fillip going into the winter break with the news that Pakistani phenomenon Imran Javed is likely to return next season.

Javed has taken the Sussex League by storm in his debut season this year, claiming 47 wickets despite not bowling in three matches as well as hitting 550 runs.

He was one of the division's leading all-round performers throughout the summer and was instrumental in Sidley's rise to second in the table just before the half way stage.

Captain Scott Woodroffe said: "Hopefully we might have managed to re-sign Imran for next year. He's provisionally agreed to come back. We've got to confirm the finer details but he's got a return contract offer from us. We want him to come back and he said he would. We will get an answer from him over the winter.

"It's been an absolute pleasure to watch him bowl. He's got to be right up there with the best all-rounders we've ever had."
