Sidley Vase dreams dashed

SIDLEY United crashed out of the FA Vase on Saturday after a 2-1 defeat at AFC Totton in the 2nd qualifying round.

Wes Tate was on target just after half time, but it was not enough to prevent his side from going down to two second half strikes by the Jewson Wessex League team.

Sidley thought they had equalised in the last minute when Chris Copley powered in a header, but the referee ruled it out for a push.

Joint-manager Peter Heritage said: "The performance was good but the result was very frustrating. We played well but the referee performed appallingly and cost us the game."
