Sidley's sorry run continues

SIDLEY United went down to their fifth consecutive defeat after a 2-1 reverse at home to Horsham YMCA on Saturday.

United have now won only once in their last eight league games and have recorded just one home victory so far this season. It leaves them eighth in Sussex County Division One and 19 points behind pace-setters Burgess Hill.

The Blues took the lead after 10 minutes through Mark Funnell's third goal of the season, before YMCA hit back just before the break when a defensive blunder let in Paul Young.

Gil Taylor got the winner 10 minutes after the restart with a brilliant individual effort.

BEXHILL United eased to a 5-0 win over Ninfield United in the first round of the Hsatings FA Intermediate Cup. On target were Leigh (6), Oliver (15, 60), Pickles (44) and Bigg (85).
