Southwater triathlon ‘a success’ on 25th birthday

450 triathletes took part in the 25th annual Southwater Relay Triathlon at Southwater Country Park on Sunday September 1.

The event, organised by Horsham Amphibians Triathlon Club, is a relay race contested by athletes from all around the South East.

The first competitors dived into the cold waters of Southwater Lake just after 8am and swam a length of the lake.

They then cycled 18.5km through Southwater, up to Barns Green and through Coolham before heading back to, the country park via the A24.

The running leg took place through the country park on the two lap course.

Horsham Amphibians hailed the event as ‘a massive success’, thanks to the weather and the hard work of almost 100 marshals.

Seven prizes were handed out, including junior - where competitors were aged between 14 and 18 - open male and female, mixed and veteran.
