St Francis steal the points

A NUMBER of errors ended up costing Shoreham Rugby Club victory at home to St Francis on Saturday.

Shoreham had a chance to put the game out of St Francis' reach in the closing stages when they were awarded a penalty in front of the posts. However, they kicked for touch, looking to pick up a try from a maul from the line-out.

The line-out was turned over, tackles were missed and St Francis broke, touching down just before the referee blew the full-time whistle.

In a scrappy match, early Shoreham pressure counted for nothing as St Francis scored first.

Gary Howarth soon kicked a penalty for Shoreham but St Francis increased their lead to 11-3.

After that, Shoreham began to take control and following several steady controlled mauls, scrum-half Sam Eaves went over for a push-over try.
