Steyning Cricket Club

STEYNING Cricket Club held its annual meeting recently at the clubhouse. Many club members, all eagerly awaiting the start of the new season, attended the meeting.

Retiring club chairman, David Eggington gave his report on last season's cricket performances and the refurbishment of the clubhouse. Whilst he regretfully informed the members that the 1st X1 had been relegated, he was full of praise for the 2nd X1 who had finished the season at champions of their respective league.

He went on to mention the youth sections of the club and their coaches who have done so much to improve the quality of cricket played at Steyning. He thanked various committee and club members for their efforts in the splendid refurbishment of the clubhouse facilities that has done so much to improve the welcome to players, club members and visitors.

New Chairman, Norman Carter took over the meeting and expressed the club's thanks to Dave for all his efforts during the past two seasons and wished him well for the future.

The new chairman's theme for the coming season is to ensure that the club encourages as many young players into the teams, give senior players a true sense of pride whilst playing for the club whilst expanding the membership to include more Steyning residents and local people from the area.

His vice chairman Trevor Cox and a sound team of committee members will support Norman for the coming season.
