STEYNING'S HUNT FOR VICTORY CONTINUES

STEYNING Cricket Club suffered their third consecutive reverse on Saturday, when they hosted Horsham, then, were left cusring the weather on Sunday after they were well-placed to beat the Sussex Development XI until play was stopped because of dangerous conditions caused by rain.

Against Sussex, Steyning needed just 101 runs from their last 26 overs when play was stopped. Gary Hunt and Australian Wade Spilcker shared an unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 76.

Wicketkeeper Spilcker had earlier taken off his gloves to have a bowl as Sussex were motoring along. 2nd XI keeper Mark Sewell took over as keeper.
